Dr Claudia Bortolaia

Dr Claudia Bortolaia graduated with honours in Dentistry in 1999 from the University of Pisa, Italy.

On graduation she took a special interest in Orthodontics, limiting her practice to this discipline. Now with more than 20 years experience as an orthodontist her knowledge and skills in this speciality are comprehensive and extensive. She continuously attends courses to remain current in this rapidly advancing and exciting field.

Claudia is known for her gentle manner and fierce attention to detail in treatment planning, personally overseeing and implementing every stage of treatment.

In 2000 she was granted a scholarship to join a post-graduate course at the Royal Dental College at the University of Aarhus, Denmark, under the direction of Prof. Birthe Melsen, a world-wide expert in orthodontic science. On her return to Italy, in 2001, she was mentored by Dr Francesco Pedetta, an orthodontist who had specialised at the University of Pennsylvania and taught her the American approach to orthodontics. She has also completed an internship in the Department of Orthodontics at the University of Siena, Italy. Claudia’s vast experience enables her to work fluently and creatively with both adults and children. Eighteen years ago, she board-certified for the “Invisalign” technique, an invisible brace system. Claudia is highly experienced in the use of a wide range of both removable and fixed appliances, tailoring her plans to the precise needs of each individual patient. Claudia has published several articles in Italian and international dental journals in collaboration with other academics and practitioners.

In 2006 Claudia moved to London, where her two daughters were born. She likes spending time with family and friends, travelling, cooking healthy and nutritious food, engaging in the endless possibilities of London culture and giving back to the community by volunteering.
